As we cling onto Summer here are some timeless classics to keep you in the party mood. Fuzz Dance hit a sweet spot in the 80’s releasing some cracking Italo pop that seems to never date.

From the more modern side of things, one imprint I have been loving the output of is “On The Corner Records”.  As a label it’s got a perfect mix of more traditional sounds and out there electronics and constantly surprises with it’s releases.

We like to mix the new and the old on this blog and with some clubs slowly coming back to life I thought it was apt to post 5 from the master Frank De Wulf. A lot of stuff can date poorly due to samples now deemed naff or tired drum loops but Frank’s stuff still sounds great to my ears. Just pure joy if dropped at the right time. Again the art of less is more…

Another two absoloute innovators have left the planet. It seems once again the artists we owe for the origins of everything are fading away. People who made music based on a feeling and packed with personality are being replaced with soundalikes who buy followers and release a new press pic over releasing cutting edge music. A sad sign of the times.

Luke Vibert is another one of those prolific people, who is a master of any style he dips in and out of. He’s been around forever, constanty contributing great music across the board.

As per, here are five favs I always come back to.

In my head this is the sound of Matthew Dear staying up for a couple of days and going into the studio to make some stripped back techno for the big room. Suitably twisted for dark rooms and sweaty walls.

We were having a convo recently and Aaron was telling me he had bought his first ever Slam remix (the last selection here, one I was unaware of) and mentioned he didn’t know that much about their history. Everyone knows the seminal Positive Education (a peak time Altered States) but here are some others I always return to from Scottish house and techno institution Stuart & Orde.

Moxie edit label ran from 2002 – 2010 but yet it seems like yesterday I was buying these records up. Normally one will find its way into my bag when d’jing. Still super cheap to buy – they do what edits should, which is make you want to play them loud for people to dance to. Simple but effective.

To say Jeff Mills is prolific is an understatement. He’s been at the forefront of ground breaking electronics since he was a teen in Detroit. Another who’s music always sounds beamed in from another galaxy and a man fond of a concept or two. I have loved his latin flecked Purpose Maker 12″ series as a wide eyed teen then DJ and have both heard and played these DJ tools a stack of times, always to devastating effect. Everyone already knows the Bells but here are five other timeless PM club grooves that when put into the right point in the night, never fail to work the room over.
